The challenge
The challenge was to create an identity for the NRWM campaign, Box It. Bin It. Sort It. The campaign focused on diverting waste, reducing the collection schedule, discontinuing scrap metal collection and reporting illegal dumping.
My role
As the graphic designer, I collaborated with Natalie Gilson to create the campaign identity for the Box It. Bin It. Sort It. and See It. Sort It. Report It. campaigns. I applied the identity to social media, vehicle wraps and magnets, billboards, banners, brochures, rack cards, stationery, ads, promo items, and other print and digital applications.
The solution
The NRWM campaign won two Municipal Waste Association Promotion & Education Awards. Box It. Bin It. Sort It. won the Municipal Waste Association's 2021 Promotion & Education Awards Gold Award. See It. Report It. Stop It. won the Municipal Waste Association's 2022 Promotion & Education Awards Gold Award.

The Box It. Bin It. Sort It. campaign logo design variations.

The logomark was constructed from a blue bin, the Niagara Region (NR) logomark, and the colours of the recycling channels.

I expanded the brand colours (left) to create a range of blue, green and grey for the campaign identity (right).

I created Facebook and Twitter post graphics for the campaign featuring digital 3D paper artwork.

I designed display ads for the Box It. Bin It. Sort It. campaign.

To notify residents of the upcoming waste management changes, I designed postcards, magazine ads and an envelope design.

I designed frisbees, hats, shirts, fridge magnets and pencils with the campaign identity for employees and promo items.

I made the app icon design for Apple and Google and the feature artwork in the app store, splash screen and background for the search results screen.

Pull-up banner design for the Box It. Bin It. Sort It. campaign identity used to inform the public of the upcoming changes to waste collection.

I designed vertical billboard ads for public transit shelters to notify residents of the upcoming changes and encourage them to download the app.

To remind residents when the changes take effect and how collection frequency will change, I designed large billboard ads with simple graphics.

I designed partial wraps for different waste collection vehicles to inform residents about the changes.

The See It. Report It. Stop It. campaign design followed the same format as the other campaign for consistency.

I designed a brochure and rack card for the See It. Report It. Stop It. campaign.
